Enjoy Bury St Edmunds
Your closest town to Hengrave Hall and a great place to base yourself for the weekend. Take a wander through the abbey gardens, quench your thirst on a Greene King Brewery Tour, or do a spot of shopping (you’ll find many quaint independent shops). Just outside of Bury, you’ll find Ickworth Hall, part of the National Trust and great for blowing away the cobwebs after a day of partying.
Dining recommendations:
The Angel Hotel (afternoon tea, dining and cocktails)
Wrights (brunch)
Damson & Wilde (Pub garden with a great menu)
Mowgli Street Food (Indian)
Dough and Co (Pizza)
The Weeping Willow, in nearby Barrow (a lovely outside-in style pub and where you’ll find the newlyweds from lunchtime on Saturday 6th. Feel free to join us!)
Get a taste of Newmarket
Just 20 minutes up the road, you’ll find yourself in the land of landscaped hedgerows and training rails. Newmarket is the home of horseracing. It’s the livelihood of the town and makes for a unique visit.
Newmarket is also where David and Hannah call home. If you’re an early bird, you’ll be able to catch the horses training on Warren Hill Gallops (except Sundays) or why not take a tour of the National Stud?
